The truth is, adults can learn as well as the youngers. In some ways, adults even have a facilitation to understand their personal strengths, weaknesses and learning styles.

Adults have the ability to choose their surroundings on a day-to-day basis. It’s up to you to recognize these opportunities in your everyday life and take advantage of them.

integrative motivation

Listening to music in your target language will allow your mind to become familiar with the nuances that you may not read about in your textbook. Music is instantly appealing and memorable and you won’t even realize that you’re learning! Let’s try! Do you like this song?

Ho in mente te

Podcasts are another great resource. Some podcasts are even made specifically for who learn the language, but you can also learn from podcasts thoughts for native speakers, as long as you choose something that interests you. For example, most languages have some podcasts that discuss topics in the news.

As an adult, you take in a vast amount of information every day. Use this to your advantage and be sure that you’re gaining your new knowledge bilingually.

And what about motivation?
If you’re an adult thinking about learning a second language, chances are, it’s not out of necessity (though obviously for a small percentage of people, it is). Probably it’s that you want to learn a new language for some personal motivation. Perhaps to experience other cultures in a more authentic way, to appreciate the arts and literature of another country, or to keep your mind sharp.

Learners who study a new language with the aim of better understanding a culture, language, and society are integratively motivated.

In this case, language aptitude is the tool for building relationships and meaningful communication. Linguistic studies show that integrative motivation yields faster and more effective language learning results than other types.

Learn a new language and get a new soul.
